Tuesday proved to be a most serendipitously profitable and pleasantly enjoyable day. After a hearty breakfast of eggs and things, Ryan and I made our way towards Temecula with a brief stop off at a mall in Escondido in search of pants for Ryan and shoes for me. With no luck at the mall for either of us, we arrived before the door of our dear friends Christina and Hannah. They had invited us over for the afternoon and evening. We then aimed to go to the mall in Temecula, however they were curious as to the nature of longboarding, so Ryan and I obliged. The four of us then took turns riding around and embracing our inner "skater kid". Thereafter we piled into Christina's Corolla and hit up the mall where we stumbled upon Addison, yet another GBTer who lives in the area.
First stop was H&M as Ryan was still on the hunt for a pair of pants. Next we had a Grasshopper Frappacino at the Saint Arbuck's. Now, I'm not a big fan of coffee, and when I say not a big fan, I mean not at all. Nor tea for that matter. But the drink was a most interesting sensation for the taste buds and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it, and even happier that there were others there that enjoyed it more than I. After that brief semi caffeinated intermezzo, we continued our window shopping until we came upon the Zumiez store, where I, in my ever present quest for a new pair of shoes, decided to browse the wares. I will confess that the purchasing of shoes never was my strong suit and not an activity I have pursued much in the recent past. Shortly into my decision making and hemming and hawing, both Ryan and Addison deserted me in favour of other pursuits, namely buying new Tee shirts in a store across the hall. So I was left to the indecisiveness of the Sisters L. who were self admittedly out of their sphere of knowledge as to the nature of shoes of the sort. My requirements for these shoes were "Classy yet casual, that I can skate in." The decision came down to two different styles of Vans. After having the Sales Rep. walk me through the pros and cons of both. And I finally decided upon the heavier, thicker soled Chukka Low's (black Denim/ Redline).
Positively delighted with my purchase, our gang proceeded to the closest Wetzel Pretzel stand and bought some cinnamon bites, which were positively delightfully delicious. Ryan and Addison had rejoined us previously and thereafter we made our way through a few other stores including, Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Bed, Bath and Beyond and a perfume store of some sort. Having agreed to meet up with yet another friend at the L's house before 6:00pm, we all squeezed cozily into the corolla, smelling like a french parfumerie, rolled down all the winds and began singing our hearts our to Coldplay's "Paradise" and other songs on Christina's in-Car mixed CD.
We pulled up just in time to find our friend Kylee H. also there. She had just arrived from dance practice of some kind, if memory serves, and while she changed into civilian attire inside, Ryan and I broke out the longboards again and began rolling up and down the street. As Kylee presented herself again, we all went up to the local park for a semi impromptu photo shoot. Hannah you see has taken a fancy to photography and seems to have quite a keen eye for it too. We laughed, danced, parkoured and skated and had a fun time posing for funny pictures, group shots, head shots, action shots and many more as the sun began to sink behind the rolling majesty of the Temeculan hills. As darkness befell the land we returned to the house of L. to enjoy the feast that Mrs. L had prepared for us. Mr. L had arrived home from work and had not arrived but moments before we did.
Dinner was very tasty indeed as before us stood an Italian feast of truly plentiful proportions. A heap of spaghetti enough to feed an army. A deep bowl of red Sauce and an Italian balsamic salad to boot, accompanied by tasty garlic bread. Dinner then fell into discussion of an array of topics spreading from tattoos to presidential politics, to universities and future plans. We filled the evening gathered around either the piano in the dining room, the table or the kitchen bar, laughing and singing and eventually rapping through some of the most classic and memorable melodies of our collective childhood. We ended the night in song after and interlude of "luck of the draw", which I had never played before and enjoyed very much. I might add that in the last round Ryan won, though was never properly congratulated. At around 10:30 or so, we three fine gentlemen took our leave from such gracious company and hosts, to make our way to the residence of Addison where we would be spending the night. We traveled in a most expedient of fashions and after storing our luggage in Addison's room we sat out on the big boulders in his back yard and contemplated, philosophized, laughed and shared stories over some fine pipe tobacco and the evening dew. Thereafter, thoroughly exhausted, we crept into our own beds and slept soundly for some hours.
DAY SEIZED!
