But when it rains, it pours!

After many long months of searching for a job, I got a call back from the "Foreign Exchange" in one of the local malls. Now, this was the last store I had expected to hear back from. Wednesday at around lunch time my phone rang, and with it so too did my change in fortunes. I went in that afternoon for an interview. The lady who interviewed me really like my resume and said she enjoyed interviewing and getting to know me, the only thing that she felt was a major minus, was that I was planning on going to to San Diego for Spring break for the next week, and she was told from upper management to hire someone on for Spring break. After much debate back and forth, prayer, and discussion with friends and family. I decided to return back to the store tell the hiring manager that I could not go on spring break if she really need someone. Now, it is to be understood that I did this very hesitantly, because my spring break plans had been in the working for a couple of months already and I didn't want to have to back out on my friends. So on Friday night, I went back in, and was told that I would receive word the following day. Saturday, though I began worried, realized that, the Lord is my shepherd, and that He has a plan for me, and that whatever the result is, it will ultimately work for my good, regardless of whether I see that good in the moment or not.
Saturday morning saw me at the Marie Calenders attending a "Meet & Greet" with California State Senator, Tony Strickland, whom I subsequently endorsed an received and autograph from. Next, I went to french class, in which we talked about the life an death of Whitney Houston. My next event of the day was working for a friend as the Music Teachers Association of California were holding the Certificate of Merit Practical Tests and they needed some extra man power. It was 6:00 pm by the time I was through work and still hadn't heard back from the manager. After dinner I gathered all my courage and called the Foreign Exchange and in doing so, was elated to find that not only could I go to San Diego, but upon my return I am scheduled to start working! My heart lept for joy "Surely Goodness and Mercy will follow me all the days of my life"
After celebrating by watching jeopardy and enjoying one of the Products of San Diego, I was stricken with the terrifying realization that I was still scheduled to leave early in the morning and had yet to pack anything! I made it to bed by about 12:30 and slept for a sum of about 3:30 hours, a complete sleep cycle, and awoke completely rested and ready to go! I had a shower, ate breakfast, triple checked I packed all of what I wanted to bring along and then hit the road. I took the 101 to the 5 through L.A., Orange and Oceanside. One my way I listened to 95.5 and an interesting piece about the "Buy Local Santa Monica" movement. As I made my way into Orange County, it changed from an Interview into cool Rock n Roll. I made it to my destination in San Diego, my friends church by 9:30. I made it through the L.A. Basin and down to San Diego in 2 hours 15 minutes flat, an achievement I am quite proud of.

I think I should now introduce, my friend, Ryan M. He is in a word, one of the most curious, most interesting of fellows I can count among my friends. He graciously offered to host me for a week during my spring break. He and I have been acquainted with him for 3 years now, but only really gotten to know him over the past few months. We both share a love for wisdom and the curiosities life presents us. We were acquainted through GBT and in getting to know him, have found a life long friend with similar ideals, interests, goals and a healthy sense of humour!

After church we made our way to the mission of San Diego de Alcala, founded by Junipero Serra on the 16th of July, 1769. Serra went on to found another 8 missions in California before he reposed peacefully in 1784, aged 70. He is known as "the Apostle to California" and is a personal hero of mine.

Next, we went to Costco, to buy a pineapple, an endevour that is much more difficult than it sounds. With this pineapple we proceeded to the 18th Party of a friend of ryans. It was a quaint shindig and its always exciting to meet new people! We drew on shirts, had a barbeque and a good time all around.

We then made our way back chez Ryan to have Rootbeer floats, watch Mr. Bean's Holiday and catch up. We stayed up late watching community proceeded by an awesome violin jam session. All in all, looking back on the past few days, I am blessed beyond all doubt by a Sovereign Lord who's got my back, always.
"Thou annointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over... And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever"
